Healthy Kids Day
Saturday, April 20th | 9:00AM-11:00AM
Healthy Kids Day is the Y’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids and families. This free, annual event features a variety of family-friendly activities to encourage healthy kids, healthy families, and a healthy start to the summer season. Some featured activities include story time with Grove Family Library, kid’s obstacle course, swim team and diving team demonstrations, along with meeting local businesses and vendors in the community!

The Chambersburg Memorial YMCA will also be hosting an open house event during Healthy Kids Day where we encourage visitors and guests to take a tour of our facility and learn what a YMCA membership can offer! NEW MEMBERS that sign up on Saturday, April 20th will receive a discount PLUS the $25 association fee will be waived.
EXSITING MEMBERS that bring a friend to join will receive a 20% referral discount on their existing membership fees. The referred member will also receive a 20% discount on their membership rate.

The Hagerstown Aviation Museum is hosting its first of seven Open Airplane Days in 2024!
Bring the family out to the Hagerstown Aviation Museum located in the historic Fairchild Dome Hangar and climb aboard museum aircraft! See exhibits detailing artifacts and stories of local men and women who made the Hagerstown aviation industry boom. The museum’s RC-26B Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance airplane, and the iconic “Dustoff” UH-1V Huey air ambulance helicopter will be on display. Weather permitting, one of the museum’s PT-19 WWII training airplanes will be available for open cockpit experience flights.
The EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Chapter 36 will be hosting a Fly-In/Drive-In Pancake Breakfast from 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM as well as giving Young Eagles Flights, weather permitting. The Young Eagles program gives youth ages 8–17 their first free airplane ride. Pre-registration required and available at https://chapters.eaa.org/eaa36.
Edwin “Eddie” Ide, Founder of the Berlin Airlift Remembrance Alliance, will tell the amazing true story of the successful 15-month-long Berlin Airlift providing life’s essentials to the City of West Berlin, Germany, when it was land blockaded by the Soviets in 1948. Eddie has had a lifelong enthusiasm for aviation and served in the Air Force. His interest in the Berlin Airlift began in 1995 and continues to this day. Presentations will take place at 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM in the Hagerstown Aviation Museum Conference Room. Follow interior signage.
You’ve seen the WWII pilots gear and uniforms on the new TV series, “Masters of the Air”, now come see it inperson!! The Historical Aviation Society will be joining the Hagerstown Aviation Museum from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Historical Aviation Society is a group of professional and amateur historians that examine and educate the public on the human dimension of our military past, through research, militaria collecting and living history events. The Historical Aviation Society will be at the Hagerstown Aviation Museum to interpret life as United States Army Air Force pilots and Women Airforce Service Pilots who were known as the “WASP”.
Local BBQ expert, Dougies BBQ Smokehouse will be at the Hagerstown Aviation Museum from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Dougies takes pride in their ability to take local flavors from around the area, make them into flavorful and wholesome dishes, and share them with the tri-state region! Support is provided in areas such as patient transportation, overnight stays during treatment, and financial assistance for medical insurance copays, nutritional supplements, utility bills, etc.
